NEW PRODUCT REDUCES THE RISK OF VEHICLE ROLLOVER AND HYDROPLANING

by Anonymous

Chicago, IL --     Underinflated tires on motor vehicles cause crashes due to tire blow-outs, immobilized vehicles, poor handling as well as hydroplaning. The NHTSA, the Transportation Department agency responsible for vehicle safety, estimates that monitoring tire pressure could prevent over 10,000 injuries and countless deaths per year.

ACCU-PRESSURE SAFETY CAPS are a new tire pressure monitor product which will help drivers know when their tire pressure is too low. The chrome caps simply go over the tire's valve stem and will display green when the tire pressure is adequate, yellow if approximately four pounds underinflated, and red when approximately ten pounds underinflated. The product comes in pressure settings of 26/28/30/32/34/36/38/40/44/50 and 60. It is simple to use, inexpensive, and provides the driver with a handy and easy to access visual reminder to keep tire pressure at the proper level. A set of four (specify pressure setting) is available for $14 plus $3 shipping from BMC Enterprises, 2106 W. Ainslie St., Chicago, IL 60625.

The NHTSA estimates 23,000 crashes and 535 fatal crashes annually involve blowouts or flat tires. The government has proposed a new rule mandating that all vehicles made after November 2003 have systems to warn drivers about low tire pressure. This is partly in response to last year's recall of 6.5 million Firestone tires. In addition to preventing blow-outs, maintaining proper pressure with ACCU-PRESSURE SAFETY CAPS will minimize wear on the tire and increase fuel economy.
